The Cheesecake “EVERYONE in Maryland Needs to Try”

Popular food blogger Nomtastic Kim recently highlighted a Baltimore bakery she says is serving “the popular cheesecake EVERYONE in Maryland needs to try.” A video preview is available below.

Kim recently visited Edocheesecake during Ekiben Baltimore’s Night Market after wanting to try the bakery for some time. She came away impressed, writing that “the hype is so well deserved.”

Edocheesecake specializes in Basque-style burnt cheesecakes with a Japanese influence. The bakery’s cheesecakes feature the caramelized exterior associated with Basque cheesecake while maintaining a soft, custardy center and the lighter sweetness commonly found in Japanese desserts.

“Their cofounders drew inspiration from both Japanese + Basque cheesecakes, and the result?! Unbelievably creamy goodness that’s rich but not too, too sweet,” Kim wrote.

Kim tried a slice at the Night Market and said she already has plans to return for another variety. “I hear their lava cheesecake is unreal so I plan to get that in the future as well,” she wrote.

Edocheesecake offers its Original Basque cheesecake along with a rotating selection of flavors that has included Matcha, Earl Grey, Taro and Chocolate, as well as seasonal and specialty creations. According to the bakery’s website, whole cheesecakes generally range from $35 to $49, while some specialty options are priced higher. Its Dubai Chocolate Basque Cheesecake, for example, has been listed for as much as $109.

For those hoping to give one a try, some advance planning is required. Edocheesecake asks customers to preorder online for pickup or delivery, with orders due by 3pm the day before the preferred date. Pickup and delivery are available Friday through Sunday from 11am-3pm.

Whole-cake pickups are available at La Chow Shared Kitchen, located at 210 S Central Ave in Baltimore. The pickup location does not offer dine-in service or walk-in purchases, so customers should place their orders in advance.

Kim’s post also noted that the Edocheesecake team gifted her the slice and tea she tried during her visit.
