Redland Road has reopened to traffic following a months-long closure for construction of a new bridge over Mill Creek, according to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT).“Redland Road is open to traffic once again!” MCDOT announced.
The road had been closed since June 19 as crews reconstructed the Mill Creek bridge and completed utility relocation work. The closure extended from approximately 500 feet north of Briardale Drive to 500 feet south of Overhill Road.
Redland Road was originally scheduled to reopen by August 24, ahead of the start of the new school year, but construction delays pushed the reopening back by several weeks.
While the road is now open, work on the project is continuing. MCDOT said its contractor may use single-lane closures between 9am and 3pm, Monday through Friday, as stream restoration work continues at Mill Creek.
According to MCDOT, the temporary lane closures will allow crews to bring materials and equipment into the work area as needed.“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” MCDOT said.
