Grandma’s Ice Cream and Waffles in Rockville appears to have permanently closed, with a closing sale now scheduled for Sunday, November 1.
According to a listing advertising the sale, “everything must go” from the restaurant at 389 E Gude Drive. The open-house-style sale is scheduled for 11am to 1pm and is expected to consist of equipment and fixtures.
The update comes several months after we reported that Grandma’s Ice Cream and Waffles had temporarily closed. At the time, the owner told us they were exploring the possibility of reopening with a new concept focused on “Grandma’s homemade cooking.”
The business is operated by the same owners as the “Grandma Kona’s” Kona Ice franchise in Gaithersburg and Germantown, which celebrated its 14th year in 2026.
Grandma’s Ice Cream and Waffles previously offered a wide range of ice cream options, including cones, sundaes, banana splits, and waffle bowls, with traditional and vegan selections available.
Its food menu also included loaded baked potatoes, wraps, waffles, breakfast plates, mac and cheese, loaded fries, and other comfort-style dishes, including vegan alternatives.
