PopUp Bagels will open its first Virginia location on Friday, November 6, at 4300 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington’s Ballston neighborhood. A video of the PopUp Bagels experience can be seen below.
According to an announcement from PopUp Bagels, the new Arlington shop will celebrate its grand opening from 7am to 11am on Friday. The celebration will feature hot bagels, beverages from the company’s drink partners and a limited-edition salted caramel apple cider doughnut schmear created in collaboration with GoCoDough.
The Arlington opening comes less than three months after PopUp Bagels made its Maryland debut in Bethesda on August 14. That location, at 7607 Old Georgetown Road on the ground floor of the Solaire apartment building, was the company’s second in the Washington region, following the April opening of its Georgetown shop at 1078 Wisconsin Avenue NW.
PopUp Bagels has built a following thanks to its small-batch bagels and viral social media presence, earning millions of likes on TikTok. The company has also received national recognition, including being named one of The New York Times’ best bagel shops in New York City and winning Brooklyn Bagelfest’s “Best Bagel” award in consecutive years.
The chain, which also operates locations in New York, Connecticut, Florida and California, is known for bagels featuring a crisp exterior and soft interior, baked in small batches throughout the day.
Founder Adam Goldberg previously explained that the business began with a homemade bagel recipe shared among friends before eventually expanding into a national brand.“When we started baking bagels in my backyard, I never imagined we’d turn it into a national brand,” Goldberg said. “We weren’t trying to start a business. We just wanted to make something great and share it with friends.”
When the Bethesda location opened in August, PopUp Bagels owner Brian Harrington told The MoCoShow that the company was scouting additional locations throughout the DMV.
With the Arlington opening, PopUp Bagels will have three locations in the Washington region, including one each in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
