A crash closesd both directions of Georgia Ave (MD 97) at Emory Ln. in Olney according to an Alert Montgomery – Severe Traffic Alert sent out at 3:51pm.
The alert stated that drivers should “expect significant delays” and “seek alternate route.” A second alert was sent at 4:24pm with the following update: “Southbound Georgia Ave (MD 97) at Emory Ln has reopened. Northbound lanes remain closed due to traffic incident. Expect delays. Seek alternate route.” A 5:03pm update states that all lanes are now open.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer stated that “several people” were trapped with extrication ongoing and five people evaluated for injuries (two with serious, but non-life threatening injuries three with minor injuries).
