Man Pleads Guilty to Child Neglect Following Death of 17-Year-Old Child, Faces Up to 30 Years in Prison

Dominique Moore, 46, of Montgomery Village, pled guilty to six counts of child neglect for his six minor children in Montgomery County Circuit Court, facing a maximum of 30 years in prison, with a sentencing hearing set for February 5, 2025. His wife, Cynthia Moore, was recently convicted of the same charges and is scheduled for sentencing on January 22, 2025, following their arrests related to the death of their 17-year-old child in unsafe living conditions.

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Jill Cummins, defendant, Dominique Moore, 46, of Montgomery Village, entered a guilty plea to six counts of child neglect of his six minor children.

Moore faces a maximum of 30 years in prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 5, 2025.

Both Dominique Moore and his wife, Cynthia Moore, were arrested in May of 2023, and each was indicted on charges of second-degree depraved-heart murder, involuntary manslaughter, and child neglect following an investigation into the death of their 17-year-old child. On May 10, 2022, emergency responders were called to the Moores’ home in the 9000 block of Quill Place in Montgomery Village for an unresponsive child and discovered the family living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

Cynthia Moore was convicted on six counts of child neglect of her six minor children by Judge Cummins on October 16, 2024, following a bench trial. Cynthia Moore also faces a maximum of 30 years in prison. She has a sentencing hearing scheduled for January 22, 2025.”
