The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) peacefully resolved a barricade situation in the 14800 block of Melfordshire Way in Silver Spring after a suspect held his girlfriend and child; they were safely evacuated, and SWAT officers took the suspect into custody after hours of negotiation.
According to MCPD, “On Friday, November 8, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of a barricaded person who was reportedly holding his girlfriend and a child inside the home.
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded, and during the call, the female and her child exited the residence safely. To resolve the situation peacefully, negotiators talked for hours with the suspect who was alone inside the residence at that time, however, the suspect continued to refuse to exit the residence. After a lengthy period of negotiation, officers assigned to the SWAT team made entry into the residence and took the suspect into custody on Saturday, November 9, at approximately 1:08 a.m.”
