In an exciting showdown at the Bocce county championship, Wootton High School emerged victorious, defeating Poolesville 2-1 in the final match.
The event, held at Watkins Mill High School, showcased the talent and sportsmanship of all eight teams that competed. Bocce is one of three varsity interscholastic corollary sports offered by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).
These corollary sports aim to enhance athletic participation opportunities for all students, particularly those with disabilities. A key objective is to maintain an approximately even ratio of participants with and without disabilities. In addition to Bocce in the winter, MCPS offers Pickleball in the fall and Allied Softball in the spring, promoting inclusivity and teamwork among students.
