On April 9, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM, Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) officers responded to an assault and theft at the 7-Eleven located at 13251 Atlantic Avenue in the Twinbrook Community of Rockville.
According to police, “Two suspects entered the store and began to shoplift. Upon being confronted outside, the male suspect brandished a handgun and pointed it at an employee. Officers quickly responded, located the suspects, and took them into custody without further incident.
A search incident to arrest led to the recovery of a loaded handgun, a second handgun inside a bag, and a large amount of marijuana packaged for distribution.
Ricky Rene Sanchez, 31, of Rockville, is prohibited from possessing firearms and will face multiple charges including assault, firearms violations, drug distribution, and theft. Sanchez has also been linked to recent firearms discharges in the area. These cases are currently under active investigation by RCPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit.
Marianela Rocha Sossa, 23, who is unhoused, will be charged with one count of theft and was also found to have an outstanding felony theft warrant through RCPD.
“It was the attention to detail by our patrol officers and the tenacity of our detectives that led to the seizure of two firearms from our community today.
