Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 3rd District officers seized illegal guns, ammunition, and drugs, including fentanyl and crack cocaine, during several traffic stops in Silver Spring over the past week.
3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos posted the following on Twitter/X on Monday evening:
“Guns and Drugs seized during different traffic stops this past week in Silver Spring 🚔This past week your @mcpnews 3rd District officers were busy proactively working to fight crime and make the streets safer.
-After observing a suspected drug transaction, plainclothes officers conducted a traffic stop on a subject who was found in possession of marijuana packaged for distribution and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine.
-In another case, uniformed officers conducted a traffic stop and found a driver illegally in possession of a loaded handgun with two loaded magazines of ammunition.
-Plainclothes officers in another case watched a suspected drug transaction and stopped both the buyer and the dealer who sold crack cocaine.
-Lastly, uniform officers conducted a traffic stop and uncovered crack cocaine and deadly fentanyl with evidence supporting possession with the intent to distribute the drugs.
Our officers remain dedicated to saving lives by intercepting deadly drugs and illegal guns and getting them off the street!
