At 11:32am today, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) was dispatched to a collision on Darnestown Road near Cattail Road in Poolesville. Responding crews encountered a tractor trailer and a passenger car involved in the incident with one person pronounced dead on the scene.
According to Assistant Chief David Pazos, MCFRS responded to the emergency after receiving information about the collision. MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer provided further details indicating that the collision involved a tractor trailer and an SUV, with reports of entrapment.
Initial updates noted that one individual may have been ejected from the vehicle while another was trapped, and that medical crews were evaluating two trauma patients.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another individual was transported to the hospital. As a result of the incident, Darnestown Road and Peachtree Road remain closed, and Cattail Lane has also been closed at its intersection with Cattail Road.
