On June 3, at approximately 10:30 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue (7-Eleven) for the report of a strong-arm robbery.
According to police, “Upon arrival, officers made contact with the store owner (victim) who reported that a shoplifter had entered the store at approximately 10:19 am. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male wearing a green jacket, black pants, and white sneakers, wandered through the store before heading to the refrigerated section and placing merchandise inside his jacket. He then proceeded to another aisle and concealed additional items in the same manner.
The victim, who had been monitoring the store’s video surveillance system, confronted the suspect near the back of the store. A physical struggle ensued, during which the suspect struck at the victim’s hands while still attempting to conceal the stolen items.
The suspect exited the store at approximately 10:21 am, passing all points of sale without attempting to pay. He fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Officers conducted a canvass of the area, but the suspect was not located.”
