Severe weather has significantly impacted roads and driving conditions across the area with numerous downed trees and power outages reported, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services (MCFRS).
Per MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the River Road corridor between the Beltway and Falls Road is dealing with closures. River Road is completely closed near Persimmon Tree Road. In addition, the area in front of Congressional Country Club area is affected, and the road at 9500 Falls Road is also closed. Additional reports by MCFRS below:

• Tree on house 11,000 Home Place Lane near Piney Glen Lane, Potomac, no injuries reported
• 5400 Mohican Dr., trees down & vehicle fire, wires down, vehicle fully-engulfed.Update -mohican Road Near Rivercrest Court, Bethesda, vehicle fire, wires down, road blocked.
• Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway, collision with entrapment tree on vehicle. More – Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway, collision involves passenger vehicle, and bus, @MCFRS_EMIHS evaluating several patients, no entrapment, no serious injury, some lanes blocked
• 7900 Takoma Ave. Near Richmond Ave., Silver Spring, tree on house
• 1600 Noyes Dr., near 2nd Ave., Silver Spring, tree on house
• 11300 Palisades Court Near Sims Drive, Kensington, tree on house
• Falls Road and River Road, tree down
Officials are working to assess the situation and address the damage. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and monitor local advisories for updates on road conditions and power restoration efforts.
