Virginia’s first Buc-ee’s will open on June 30th at 838 Friedens Church Rd. in Mount Crawford, VA. It will be located at the exit 240 interchange on Interstate 81 near Harrisonburg, VA. Fans are already planning to camp out for the 6am opening, and a ribbon cutting kicks off the day at 10 AM, with live music, free samples, and giveaways adding to the celebration.
Plans are underway for four locations across Virginia in the coming years. One new Virginia location in New Kent County was initially set for 2023, but has now been postponed until 2027. While many hope this expansion might extend into Maryland next, despite speculative reports of a Buc-ee’s near Hagerstown on the I‑81 corridor, the company currently has no plans for that site.

According to Buc-ee’s, “Buc-ee’s Rockingham County will span 74,000 square feet and feature 120 fueling positions. Favorites such as Texas barbecue, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, and fresh pastries will be on offer. Visitors can expect thousands of snack, meal, and drink options, along with award-winning restrooms, affordable gas, quality products, and the excellent service that has won over millions in the South for more than 40 years.”
Buc-ee’s is also moving forward with plans for another Virginia location in Stafford County, situated in the Northern Virginia region—albeit on its outskirts—approximately 52 miles from Bethesda, MD. According to Potomac Local, the company has formally requested zoning changes for nearly 35 acres to develop a large fuel and retail complex off I-95. The proposed facility, near the intersection of Courthouse Road (Route 630) and Austin Ridge Drive just east of I-95 Exit 140, will consist of a 74,000-square-foot convenience store and gas station equipped with 120 fuel pumps and provisions for 24 future EV charging stations.
