Updated with additional information regarding the origin of the fire.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded around 8:13 p.m. to a house fire on Meadowneck Ct in Kensington.
According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, crews arrived to find a hybrid vehicle on fire in the garage, with flames extending into the second floor of the home. Two occupants and a pet escaped safely. One adult was evaluated after attempting to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived but was not transported.
In an update on Monday morning, MCFRS Chief spokesperson shared that fire investigators determined the fire originated from a bag of charcoal and nearby combustibles in the garage, including a wood chip fire starter.
