10 Fun Facts About the Commanders Win Against The Raiders

The Washington Commanders bounced back in a big way Sunday, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 41–24 at home. With second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels sidelined, veteran backup Marcus Mariota stepped in and delivered a strong performance, while special teams also played a key role in securing the win. The Commanders now sit at 2–1 as they prepare for a Week 4 matchup in Atlanta. But before we look ahead, here are 10 fun facts from today’s victory:

1. Quarterback Marcus Mariota recorded his 75th career start. Mariota is the one of 18 active quarterbacks with at least 75 starts.

2. Mariota currently ranks tied for No. 11 among active quarterbacks in career rushing touchdowns.

3. Defensive End Dorance Armstrong joins DT Matt Ioannidis and DE Preston Smith, who recently re-signed with the team, as the third player in franchise history to start a season with at least 1.0 sack in each of the first three games of the season.

4. Running Back Jeremy McNichols rushed for a career-long 60-yard touchdown. It was the longest run by a Washington RB since Derrius Guice in Week 13 of the 2019 season and the longest touchdown rush by a Washington player since Steven Sims in Week 5 of the 2019 season.

5. LB Bobby Wagner has recorded his first two sacks of the season and the 36th and 37th of his career.

6. Washington had four players record 20-plus rushing yards in the first half, the most in a first half in team history since at least 2000.

7. Wide Receiver Jaylin Lane’s 90-yard punt return touchdown is the first touchdown of his career and Washington’s first since Week 5, 2016 (Jamison Crowder).

8. Today was the first time since September 11, 1994 that Washington has recorded a 60-plus yard kickoff return and 60-plus yard punt return in a single game.

9. In his 100th career game, WR Terry McLaurin has passed WR Bobby Mitchell for fifth on the all-time receiving yards list in franchise history (6,493).

10. Per Elias Sports, WR Jaylin Lane is the first Washington rookie to record a punt return touchdown since Desmond Howard on Sept. 13, 1992.
