16-Year-Old Boy Struck and Killed By Driver in Kensington

A 16-year-old boy was struck and killed by a driver Sunday night in Kensington, according to Montgomery County Police.

At approximately 9:14pm on Sunday, officers from the 2nd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to the 3500 block of University Boulevard West for a report of a pedestrian struck. First responders located the teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the striking vehicle, a white Nissan Murano, remained on scene. The Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Just before 10pm, police posted on social media that University Boulevard was closed between Hobson Street and St. Paul Street as the investigation continued. Drivers were advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Police say a news release will be shared once more information becomes available.
