MoCo Couple’s Award-Winning Tequila Rimari Now Available in Montgomery County Liquor Stores (sponsored)

Montgomery County residents can now find a new local favorite on the shelves of MoCo Liquor Stores (Oak Barrel & Vine): Tequila Rimari, an award-winning brand founded by Clarksburg couple Dheeraj Naidu and Vrunda Parekh.

What started as a shared dream has quickly grown into one of the most talked-about new tequila projects in the U.S., with Rimari earning six medals before its official launch. With MoCo ABS approval, county residents can now take home a bottle at Oak Barrel & Vine locations across Montgomery County.

Tequila Rimari is produced at the historic Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados (NOM 1414) distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Sergio Cruz, Rimari takes a groundbreaking approach to fermentation by using sake yeast—a first-of-its-kind method in tequila production. This yeast, combined with wild strains from local fruit trees, creates a truly unique flavor profile with tropical fruit, floral, and herbal agave notes.

To further elevate the craft, Rimari’s fermentation is conducted to the rhythms of Mozart’s classical compositions, a technique to encourage yeast activity and flavor development. The result is a tequila that blends Mexican heritage with Japanese elegance, delivering depth and character rarely found in the category.

Award-Winning Recognition
Even before reaching store shelves, Tequila Rimari’s commitment to purity and craft has been validated on the global stage. Current medals for its Blanco expression include:
🏅 Double Gold Medal – 2025 SIP Awards
🏅 Gold Medal – 2025 USA Spirits Ratings Competition (94 Points)
🥈 Silver Medal – 2025 Denver International Spirits Competition (87 Points)
🥈 Silver Medal – 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
🥈 Silver Medal – 2025 New York International Spirits Competition (93 Points)
🥈 Silver Medal – 2025 Bartender Spirits Awards

Introducing Rimari Reposado
Just four weeks ago, Rimari introduced its Reposado, aged in a carefully curated selection of ex-bourbon American white oak barrels, including those from Wild Turkey, Willett Rye, Russell’s Reserve, Smith Bowman, and BLiS (ex-bourbon, ex-maple syrup).
This reposado adds a warm, complex layer to Rimari’s lineup, complementing the crisp vibrance of the Blanco.

A Vision for the Future: Barrel Aging Program
Beyond Blanco and Reposado, Rimari has already begun experimenting in its barrel-aging program to create limited-edition Añejo expressions. Current trials include aging tequila in Martinique agricole rhum barrels and French cognac casks, promising future releases with bold new layers of flavor.

Available Now in Montgomery County Liquor Stores
With ABS approval, Montgomery County residents are among the first in the nation to enjoy Tequila Rimari at their local Oak Barrel & Vine stores. For Dheeraj and Vrunda, it’s a milestone that brings their journey full circle—from falling in love while working together in Germantown, to building a life in MoCo, and now, launching a tequila brand that reflects their shared values of craft, sustainability, and community.
“Tequila Rimari is more than just a bottle of tequila,” says founder Dheeraj Naidu. “It’s a story rooted in love, community, and passion—and now, it’s something we’re proud to share with our community right here at home.”
