Kitchen Social Signs On To Open First Maryland Restaurant in Former Paladar Space

A new restaurant is on the way to Downtown Crown, as Kitchen Social has signed on to take over the space that was previously home to Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar at 203 Crown Park Avenue in Gaithersburg.

Paladar closed its Gaithersburg location in May 2024, ending a nearly decade-long run in the community. The closure followed the 2018 shutdown of its North Bethesda location.

Kitchen Social is an Ohio-based restaurant group known for its lively atmosphere and made-from-scratch menu that features modern American comfort food. The concept offers a wide range of dishes including appetizers like house-made pretzels with cheese fondue, crispy Brussels sprouts, and deviled eggs, along with entrees such as short rib risotto, Korean BBQ salmon, Nashville hot chicken, and wood-grilled steaks. The restaurant also features a full bar with craft cocktails, local beer, and wine.

The upcoming Gaithersburg location will mark Kitchen Social’s first in Maryland. The restaurant has expanded steadily across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, earning praise for its community-oriented vibe and open-kitchen layout. An upcoming location is also coming soon to Sarasota, FL. An opening timeline has not yet been announced, but construction is expected to begin in the coming months.
