Kennedy Defeats Poolesville to Cap Historic Regular Season

For the first time in 19 years, the Kennedy Cavaliers can call themselves winners of a regular season. With a dominant 42-6 victory over Poolesville on Friday night, the Cavaliers capped off a resurgent campaign at 5-4, their first winning record since 2006.

It’s been a long road back for the program, but this Kennedy squad has rewritten the narrative in emphatic fashion. Coming into the night 0-4 in their last four meetings against the Falcons, the Cavaliers wasted no time flipping the script.

Running back Ashad Davis set the tone early with a 17-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Poolesville briefly answered with a short touchdown from Nick Curran, but from there, it was all Kennedy. The Cavaliers’ offense ignited, rattling off 35 unanswered points and leaving no doubt about the outcome.

Friday’s rout marked the fifth time this season Kennedy has won by three touchdowns or more, a testament to how far the program has come in just two years under Kennedy alum Coach McCray. At 5-4, Kennedy not only owns a winning record but could also host a playoff game in the 4A/3A bracket, a remarkable turnaround for a team that’s spent years fighting to stay competitive.
