Walter Johnson High School is officially beginning the search for its next varsity football coach following the departure of Head Coach Aaron Fiddler from the program. Fiddler, who led the Wildcats for the past three seasons, will remain a teacher at the school, but is stepping away from his coaching role.
In a message shared today, Walter Johnson Athletic Coordinator Larry Hurd thanked Fiddler for his leadership and service, while also announcing that the school has opened its search for a new head coach.
“Thank you Coach Fiddler,” Hurd said. “Walter Johnson will be in the market for a new Varsity Football Coach. Please get in touch with me by email at [email protected] if you are interested. Please provide a current football resume and an interest letter. Go Cats!”
Fiddler’s tenure included substantial cultural and developmental progress within the program, as well as strong relationships built with student-athletes. The school’s football program also released a statement expressing gratitude for his dedication, highlighting his work ethic, mentorship, and impact on players both on and off the field.
While the Wildcats transition into a new chapter, the administration emphasized that Fiddler will continue to be part of the Walter Johnson community in the classroom. The search for his successor is now underway as the school looks to build on the foundation established over the last three years.
Those interested in applying for the varsity head coaching position are encouraged to contact Hurd directly.
