The upcoming Rockville Ace Hardware is now aiming to open in mid-January 2026, based on the latest information provided to us by the Cool Hardware Company.
The new Rockville location will be operated by the Cool Hardware Company. The store will be located at 835 Rockville Pike in Wintergreen Plaza, just about a mile from the Rockville Metro station. The 11,000SF store will be situated alongside Food Lion and several popular dining spots in the plaza.
Once open, the Rockville Ace Hardware will offer the Cool Hardware Company’s signature “helpful place” experience, featuring knowledgeable staff and expert advice in areas such as paint, lawn and garden, and grilling. The store will carry well-known brands including Craftsman, Weber, Traeger, and Benjamin Moore, along with assortments of live goods and locally made products.
The Rockville store will become part of the Cool Hardware Company’s growing network of employee-owned Ace Hardware locations across the DC, Baltimore, and Northern Virginia region. Founded in 2003 by Gina Schaefer and Marc Friedman and currently led by CEO Craig Smith, the company transitioned to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan in 2021, allowing team members to earn shares in the business as it grows.
