Viral Philly Cheesesteak Spot Opening Second Maryland Location

Viral cheesesteak spot 5th & Steaks is expanding in Maryland, with the popular Philly-inspired concept set to open its second location in Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel County), expanding its service area beyond the wildy popular first location in Catonsville (Baltimore County).

According to posts shared on the restaurant’s Instagram account, the new 5th & Steaks location will officially open on January 7 at 11am at 7237 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. To celebrate the grand opening, the restaurant announced that the first 100 people in line will receive a free cheesesteak.

5th & Steaks has built a strong following online, amassing more than 10,000 followers on Instagram, thanks in large part to viral videos showcasing its loaded cheesesteaks and over-the-top portions. The business traces its roots directly back to South Philadelphia, where cheesesteaks were a central part of everyday life for the family behind the brand.

In its own words, the team says it was “born and raised in South Philadelphia,” noting that its family owned several restaurants in the city, including one located at 5th & South, a well-known strip packed with diverse food cultures and shops. The owners say those early experiences taught them the craft and culture of authentic food, and they are now excited to bring their South Philly roots and extensive experience in the steak business to Maryland.

The Glen Burnie opening marks the brand’s second Maryland location. The original 5th & Steaks operates in Catonsville at 1140 North Rolling Road, where it has already developed a loyal following. The restaurant lists its hours as Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8pm, or until sell-out, a detail familiar to fans accustomed to long lines and early sellouts.
