DUI Arrest Leads to Felony PCP Seizure

A DUI arrest in Silver Spring (Fairland area) late Friday night led to the seizure of felony-level drugs and the arrest of two people who were not from Montgomery County, according to Montgomery County Police. Additional details about the suspects were not shared.

Captain Jason Cokinos, commander of the MCPD 3rd District, said officers from the district’s Community Action Team were conducting operations in the Briggs Chaney Road and Castle Boulevard area on the night of January 9, 2026, when a traffic stop was initiated.

During the stop, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. As officers continued their investigation, they located a quantity of phencyclidine, commonly known as PCP, in amounts consistent with intent to distribute, which constitutes a felony offense.

Police noted that PCP is a highly dangerous, mind-altering drug that poses serious risks to both users and the community. Both adult occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and booked at central processing. MCPD stated that neither individual was a Montgomery County resident.
