One Dead in Two-Vehicle Crash on Monday Night

Montgomery County Police say one person has died following a two-vehicle collision late Sunday night on Ridge Road in Damascus.

According to MCPD, 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel were dispatched at 10:29pm to the 24700 block of Ridge Road for a reported crash involving two vehicles. Initial reports indicated that one person was trapped.

Police later confirmed the collision resulted in a fatality, with one person pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim or additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes as the roadway remained closed during the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

MCPD Summary of Events: “Montgomery County Department of Police 5th District officers and Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched at approximately 10:29 p.m. to the area of Ridge Road, north of Sweepstakes Road, for a multi-vehicle collision.

First responders located the driver of a Toyota Camry in the roadway after he was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of a Lexus NX350, an adult female, was trapped inside the vehicle, extricated, and transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A third vehicle, a Ford Fusion, was involved in the collision, but the driver was not injured.
Multiple witnesses reported that the driver of the Toyota was traveling northbound on Ridge Road at a high rate of speed before the crash.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating. More information will be released as it becomes available, including the name of the deceased following proper notification of next of kin.”
