MCPD Weekend Summary Includes School Threats, Robbery, and Multiple Thefts

Montgomery County police are reporting a range of incidents across the county over the weekend of April 17 through April 19, including school threats, multiple auto thefts, a robbery, and several assault-related cases.

In the 5th District, which covers areas including Germantown, Clarksburg, and Damascus, two separate school-related threats were reported on Friday, April 17. One incident involved threatening statements referencing a potential school shooting at Damascus High School, while another involved a student making threats on social media near the Kingsview Middle School area.

In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, auto thefts were reported, including one on West Side Drive where a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot, later recovered, and a juvenile was arrested. Another incident on Rockville Avenue involved both a stolen vehicle and a firearm taken from inside.

In the 1st District, covering Rockville and surrounding areas, a residential burglary was reported on Azalea Drive between April 18 and April 19.

In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda and Chevy Chase, a construction site theft was reported on Crosswind Drive, where copper components were stolen from multiple homes under construction, causing flooding and significant damage. A separate weapons-related arrest occurred on Grand Park Avenue after a suspect was seen waving a handgun inside a movie theater.

In the 4th District, covering areas such as Silver Spring and Wheaton, a hate or bias-related incident was reported on Lovejoy Street involving threatening phone calls followed by fireworks set off outside a home. Additional incidents in the district on Sunday included a residential burglary on Adrian Street and a non-contact shooting on Julep Avenue, where a shell casing was recovered and no injuries were reported.

In the 3rd District, which includes parts of Silver Spring and the Route 29 corridor, an armed robbery was reported early Sunday morning on Lockwood Drive, where a victim was assaulted and robbed by a group of suspects. Another auto theft was reported on Oak Leaf Drive.

Additional incidents included aggravated assaults reported in multiple districts on Sunday. In the 1st District, police responded to a knife-related assault at a park on Harrington Road. In the 5th District, an aggravated assault involving a firearm was reported on Clopper Road during a dispute.
