Kentlands Bar Crawl Draws Record Crowd, Raises $2,067 for Humane Society

The Kentlands Bar Crawl drew its largest crowd yet over the weekend, bringing together more than 200 participants and raising $2,067 for the Montgomery County Humane Society.

Held on April 18 from 4pm to 9pm, the event spanned several popular Kentlands spots, including Vasilis, Burtons, Vine Alley, Dog Haus, and Brews and Barrels. Attendees moved between locations throughout the evening, with QR codes set up at each stop to allow for direct donations to the nonprofit.

This year’s turnout marked the most attended crawl since the event launched in 2023, continuing a steady rise in participation as the tradition grows within the community. The funds raised will support the Montgomery County Humane Society’s efforts to reduce animal homelessness through adoption, education, and outreach programs.

The event is organized by local residents Kristin Johnston, Sue Kravitz, and Sumbal Sheldon, who have now helped raise more than $7,000 for area nonprofits through the ongoing series. Past beneficiaries have included Comfort Cases, Feed the Fridge, and Rainbow Shelter.

Following the success of this spring’s crawl, organizers are already looking ahead to the next event scheduled for October. Proceeds from that crawl will benefit For 3 Sisters, a nonprofit that supports Montgomery County residents undergoing cancer treatment, and is expected to once again feature Marshall’s pink fire truck.
