Montgomery County police released a summary of reported calls for service on April 23, 2026, highlighting a mix of robberies, assaults, thefts, and burglaries across multiple districts.
In the 2nd District (Bethesda-Chevy Chase area), a strong-arm robbery was reported between 5pm and 6pm along East West Highway near Rosemary Hills Drive. A juvenile walking home was approached by a suspect who demanded his phone and implied he was armed. The victim handed over the phone before the suspect fled toward a nearby apartment complex.
In the 3rd District (Silver Spring area), multiple incidents were reported, including an overnight auto theft from a parking lot in the 12000 block of Old Columbia Pike and another vehicle stolen from a parking garage on Wayne Avenue between 12:50pm and 2:30pm. A weapons offense was also reported in the 8400 block of Queen Annes Drive between 4:30am and 4:42am, where residents heard approximately eight gunshots and a bullet hole was later discovered in a home.
In the 4th District (Wheaton-Glenmont area), an aggravated assault occurred in the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road, where a suspect placed a victim in a chokehold inside a store, causing the victim to briefly lose consciousness. The suspects were later detained outside a nearby mall. A separate aggravated assault involving a knife was reported in the 4000 block of Blackpool Road, where a suspect threatened a victim during a confrontation outside a residence.
In the 5th District (Germantown-Clarksburg area), several theft-related incidents were reported, including auto thefts on Appledowre Way and Steeple Court, as well as a theft from a vehicle on Tralee Court where suspects forced entry and stole property. A commercial burglary was also reported at Kingsview Middle School on Kingsview Road, where five suspects entered the building, triggered an alarm, and were located and arrested nearby.
In the 6th District (Gaithersburg-Montgomery Village area), a threat of violence was reported at the Olde Towne Youth Center on Teachers Way, where three juveniles allegedly made threats to target the facility. A residential burglary was also reported in the 8800 block of Thomas Lea Terrace, where suspects entered through an unlocked rear door while the homeowners were away and fled when the residents returned.
