Montgomery County Police Department shared the following daily crime summary for May 6, 2026. The incidents below do not reflect all calls for service throughout the county.
The 1st District, which covers the Rockville and surrounding areas, reported two auto thefts on Wednesday. The first occurred between 8:38am and 9:35am in the 200 block of Ritchie Parkway, where a vehicle was stolen from a residence. The second occurred between 4:45pm and 4:55pm in the 12800 block of Twinbrook Parkway, where a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot.
The 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Silver Spring, reported a hate/bias incident at Silver Creek Middle School in the 3700 block of Saul Road. According to MCPD, a drawing of an antisemitic symbol was found inside a school restroom at approximately 1:58pm.
The 3rd District, which covers downtown Silver Spring and surrounding communities, reported an arson and recovered stolen vehicle incident in the 8400 block of Piney Branch Road. At approximately 7:09am, a vehicle was found on fire in a driveway. One person was later arrested that afternoon.
The 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, reported a recovered stolen vehicle incident with two arrests in the 7700 block of Warfield Road. At approximately 2:38pm, a stolen vehicle was located in a shopping center parking lot, and two suspects were tracked down and arrested.
