Poolesville Coed Volleyball Makes History With County Championship, Undefeated Season

Poolesville High School’s coed volleyball team made history Thursday night, capturing the Montgomery County championship with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Sherwood and finishing the season undefeated.

The title marks the first county championship in recent program history for the Falcons, capping off a memorable season for a senior class that took the court knowing it would be their final time playing together for Poolesville.

Leading the way was senior captain Jaylin Anderson (#6), who guided the Falcons from the setter position with what coaches described as composure, passion, and determination throughout the season. Fellow seniors Jordan Smith, Emmanuel Chukwurah (#52), and Scarlett Hunter (#11) also played key roles in the championship run, with Chukwurah dominating at the net and Hunter delivering relentless defensive effort to keep rallies alive.

Coaches emphasized that the championship was a total team accomplishment, with every player contributing to the undefeated season and historic playoff victory.

The atmosphere inside the gym was electric as Falcon Nation packed the stands and supported the team through the five-set battle against a strong Sherwood squad.
