Permanent signage is now up and the grand opening date has officially been announced for K-Wave Rockville.
The fast-growing K-Pop retailer will celebrate the opening of its new Rockville location on Saturday, May 30th, at 5534 Randolph Road in the Montrose Shopping Center, near MOM’s Organic Market and K-Pot.
According to the business, the grand opening celebration will run from 10am to 9pm and feature all-day events, free goodie bags, claw machines, gachapon, DIY deco stations, PC vending machines, and more. K-Wave also says a Photoism booth is “coming soon.”
The Rockville store will be K-Wave’s first Maryland location and the company’s second brick-and-mortar store overall, following the opening of its Centreville, Virginia location in late 2024.
As we reported in January, the nearly 3,000 SF store is expected to significantly expand the K-Wave experience in the DMV with in-store events, exclusive merchandise, K-beauty products, stationery items, and products created by local artists and K-Pop fans.
K-Wave was founded by Austin, whose passion for K-Pop began in 2013 after discovering Girls’ Generation’s “I Got a Boy” music video. After years of collecting albums, attending conventions, and engaging with the K-Pop community while working a traditional 9-to-5 job, he eventually turned the idea of opening a dedicated K-Pop store into reality.
