Burlington is set to take over the former Staples space in Frederick following the office supply retailer’s recent closure earlier this year.
Sharyn Volpe of Shop Local Frederick Maryland recently shared a photo of “coming soon” signage posted at the former Staples location at 5557 Urbana Pike in Riverview Plaza, next to Michael’s.
Staples permanently closed the Frederick store on March 6, ending a longtime presence at the shopping center. The closure came about six months after the Staples location in Germantown also shut down. That former Montgomery County store has since been replaced by Dollar Tree.
Another Staples location at 1305 W 7th Street in Frederick remains open. An opening timeline for the upcoming Burlington has not yet been announced.
Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is a national off-price retailer with more than 1,000 stores across the country. The chain offers discounted brand-name clothing, shoes, accessories, home décor, and other merchandise for men, women, and children.
The retailer continues to expand across Maryland and is also preparing to open a new store in Montgomery Village later this summer.
