Takoma Park Police are investigating an attempted armed carjacking that occurred early Sunday morning in the area of Flower Avenue and Maplewood Avenue.
According to police, officers responded to the area on May 25, 2026, at approximately 1:10am for the report of an attempted armed carjacking.
The victim told investigators she was sitting inside her parked vehicle when multiple suspects approached in a dark-colored four-door sedan. One of the suspects, armed with a handgun, demanded the victim’s vehicle, phone, and keys.
Police said the victim informed the suspects that her vehicle used a push-start system and that she did not have traditional keys. The suspects fled the area as nearby traffic approached. The suspects were described as:
• A white or Hispanic male in his early 20s, last seen wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing and armed with a black handgun
• A Black male last seen wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing and armed with a smaller handgun
• Two additional suspects with no further description available
