Police Investigate Weapon Discharge, Burglary, and Auto Thefts Across Montgomery County (May 29-31)

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) released its daily crime summary highlighting several reported incidents that occurred between May 29 and May 31, including a residential burglary, multiple vehicle thefts, aggravated assaults, and a weapon discharge investigation.

In the Second District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and surrounding communities, officers reported a residential burglary in the 5800 block of Nicholson Lane at 11:43pm on May 30. According to police, a residence was broken into and property was stolen. Later on May 31 at 7:48pm, a vehicle was stolen from a commercial parking area in the 7100 block of Wisconsin Avenue after a suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away.

In the Third District, which covers Silver Spring, Aspen Hill, and Burtonsville, police investigated a weapon discharge incident at approximately 1am on May 31 in the 8100 block of Georgia Avenue. MCPD said multiple shots were fired outside two businesses following a large gathering. No injuries were reported. The district also recorded an aggravated assault involving two juveniles who were assaulted while walking in the 13100 block of Waters Landing Drive at 5:58pm on May 31. Additionally, three vehicle thefts were reported, including incidents on Sheffield Manor Terrace, Georgia Avenue, and near Saffron Lane and East Schuyler Road.

In the Fourth District, which serves Wheaton, Glenmont, Kensington, and surrounding areas, officers responded to a road rage-related aggravated assault at approximately 11:20am on May 31 near Grandview Avenue and University Boulevard. Police said a driver displayed a firearm and threatened another motorist during the incident.

In the Fifth District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, and nearby communities, an aggravated assault was reported at 3:48pm on May 31 in the 13100 block of Waters Landing Drive. MCPD said a suspect assaulted victims in a public area, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.

In the Sixth District, which serves Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, and surrounding areas, officers reported an aggravated assault involving a firearm in the 800 block of Gallup Hill Road at 6:37am on May 30. Police said a suspect pointed a firearm at a victim during a confrontation, though no injuries were reported. The district also saw three separate vehicle thefts, including stolen vehicles from Horizon Run Road and Garth Terrace, along with a motorcycle theft from Shadow Oak Court.

MCPD noted that the summary reflects only selected reported incidents and does not include all calls for service received during the reporting period.
