The Takoma Park Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Sunday morning in the 100 block of Philadelphia Avenue.
According to police, at approximately 12:30am on June 7, a woman was walking near 16 Philadelphia Avenue when an unknown vehicle pulled up behind her. Police say a Hispanic male suspect wearing all black clothing exited the vehicle, approached the victim while brandishing a knife, and motioned for her to hand over her shoulder bag.
Fearing for her safety, the victim complied. The suspect then returned to the vehicle, which fled the area. The stolen bag reportedly contained the victim’s identification cards, credit cards, and work clothing. The victim immediately canceled her credit cards and had not observed any unauthorized activity on the accounts at the time the incident was reported.
