Montgomery County Police are investigating a homicide after a 37-year-old woman was found dead inside a Gaithersburg apartment Sunday morning.
According to a Monday morning press release by police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded at approximately 8:14am on Sunday, June 21, to the 8500 block of Snouffer School Road for a reported working code.
When officers arrived, they located a 37-year-old woman inside an apartment suffering from trauma to her upper body. Officers began lifesaving efforts until Fire and Rescue personnel arrived. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death. Police said no suspect information is available at this time.
The Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Officials noted that all information released so far is preliminary. Additional information, including the victim’s identity, will be released following notification of next of kin.
