Nearly Century-Old Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe Reopens Following Move To Colesville

After more than two decades in downtown Silver Spring, and more than 90 years in business, Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe has officially reopened in its new home at the Meadowood Shopping Center in Colesville.

The longtime specialty lingerie boutique celebrated its grand reopening on May 23 at 12840 New Hampshire Ave. According to the shop’s Facebook page, it is now open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and closed on Sundays. Earlier this month, the business also highlighted new bra arrivals as it continues settling into its expanded space.

The relocation was first announced in late April, when Dor-Ne revealed plans to leave its longtime downtown Silver Spring location for the Meadowood Shopping Center. At the time, the shop said the move would provide customers with “a better shopping experience, more room for your favorites, and even more pieces you’ll fall in love with.”

The move represents another major milestone for the nearly century-old retailer, which earlier this year was at risk of closing permanently. In March, the business announced that a buyer had been found following the retirement plans of its longtime owners, helping ensure the continuation of the store’s legacy.

Founded in 1932 as a bra shop in Washington, D.C., Dor-Ne built a reputation across the region for expert fittings, personalized service, and hard-to-find sizes long before such offerings became common at larger retailers. The boutique relocated to downtown Silver Spring in 2001, where it continued serving generations of customers through individualized fittings and specialty foundation garments.
