After serving the Rockville community for more than three decades, China Taste has permanently closed at 155 Rollins Ave.
The owners made the decision to retire rather than renew their lease, with the restaurant serving its final meals earlier this month. As of Monday, June 29, callers to the restaurant are still greeted by a recorded message from the owners thanking customers for their decades of support and loyalty.
Over the years, China Taste built a devoted following for its generous portions, affordable prices, and consistently well-loved Chinese dishes. For many longtime customers, it had become a neighborhood staple.
Longtime customer Ben Shlesinger shared his reaction to the closure, saying, “Sorry to share this horrible news. I had been going to China Taste for decades, ever since it replaced Doc’s Pizza. This is probably close to 40 years. I will never forget China Taste.”
