Early Morning House Fire Closes Portion Of Travilah Road

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews quickly brought an early morning house fire under control Tuesday after flames spread from the exterior of a home into the attic in North Potomac.

According to MCFRS, at approximately 6:45am, firefighters responded to the Natia Manor Drive area. Upon arrival, crews encountered fire showing on the rear of the home (Side C), with flames extending from the exterior into the attic space.

Firefighters from Stations 32 and 31 launched an aggressive interior attack while simultaneously extinguishing the exterior fire, successfully preventing the flames from spreading further through the home. Searches of the residence were completed and no occupants were found inside.

Two residents safely accounted for themselves and were not injured. One dog also escaped unharmed. According to MCFRS, the home remains habitable, with no displacement or immediate assistance needed.

As crews continue to operate in the area, Travilah Road is closed between Welland Terrace and Dufief Mill Road, according to Montgomery County Police. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and should expect significant delays.
