The Takoma Park Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon after the driver of a stolen vehicle allegedly drove toward an officer.
According to police, at approximately 4:48pm on July 1, officers were patrolling in the 900 block of Larch Avenue when they located a stolen vehicle. Police said that as an officer exited his patrol car to approach the vehicle, the driver accelerated toward him in an apparent attempt to strike him. The officer fired one round from his service weapon at the vehicle.
No injuries were reported. The driver fled the scene in an older model white four-door Honda Civic, and a lookout was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
