Hate Crime, Bus Assault, Burglaries, And Robbery Included in July 7 Crime Summary

The Montgomery County Department of Police has released its overview of reported calls for service from July 7, 2026. The incidents below represent a selection of reported crimes across the county and do not reflect every call for service received that day.

In the Bethesda Police District (2D), officers reported a commercial burglary in the 10600 block of Connecticut Avenue between 2:40am and 2:50am after suspects broke through the front door of a vape shop and stole merchandise.

In the Silver Spring Police District (3D), a vehicle was stolen overnight from the 300 block of Greenhill Way between 2am and 8:30am. Officers also investigated the theft of an airbag after a vehicle’s window was shattered in the 8500 block of Greenwood Avenue. In the 2300 block of Dennis Avenue, catalytic converters were stolen from two vehicles parked on the same block overnight. Police also responded to an aggravated assault in the 700 block of Sligo Avenue between 7pm and 7:39pm after one person allegedly threw a hard object at another person’s head, causing a serious but non-life-threatening cut. Later that evening, at approximately 9:02pm, a hate/bias incident was reported in the 600 block of Mansfield Road after a group allegedly banged on an apartment door while making anti-LGBTQ+ statements, threatened a resident who confronted them, and damaged two Pride flags.

In the Wheaton Police District (4D), officers arrested a driver after finding a loaded handgun during a traffic stop near Georgia Avenue and Hathaway Drive at approximately 1:27pm. Police also responded to an aggravated assault at 7:17pm in the 12300 block of Veirs Mill Road after a man allegedly got into a fight with a passenger on a bus and jabbed a knife at the bus driver who intervened. The driver was not injured.

In the Germantown Police District (5D), officers investigated two residential burglaries. The first occurred at approximately 3:42am in the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive, where two people broke a window to enter a vacant apartment, though nothing was reported stolen. The second occurred between 7am and 5pm in the 19500 block of Frederick Road, where someone broke a front window to enter a home and stole property. Police also reported a strong-arm robbery at approximately 1:46pm in the 23900 block of Burdette Forest Road after a teenager arranged through social media to sell an item of clothing. When the buyer arrived, police say the suspect knocked the teen to the ground and stole the item.

In the Gaithersburg/Montgomery Village Police District (6D), a vehicle was reported stolen overnight from a driveway in the 20200 block of Darlington Drive between Monday at 7:07pm and Tuesday at 5:30am.
