Vehicle Thefts, Attempted Home Invasion Among Reported Incidents in July 21 Crime Summary

Per MCPD, here is an overview of reported calls for service from July 21, 2026. This summary does not reflect every call for service during the day.

The 2nd District (Bethesda and Chevy Chase) reported two vehicle thefts, a catalytic converter theft, and an aggravated assault. The assault occurred in the 4800 block of Cordell Avenue, where a man attempting to intervene in a dispute was allegedly threatened by another man armed with a knife.

The 3rd District (Silver Spring) reported six vehicle thefts, including one stolen motorcycle. Vehicles were reported stolen from Quartet Lane, Aston Manor Court, Garland Avenue, McKnew Road, Quebec Terrace, and Glenville Road. The stolen motorcycle was taken from the 12900 block of Allerton Lane.

The 4th District (Wheaton) reported three vehicle thefts and one residential burglary. The burglary occurred in the 2400 block of Blueridge Avenue, where an apartment was entered while the resident was away and property was stolen.

The 5th District (Germantown and Clarksburg) reported one commercial burglary and one residential burglary. The commercial burglary occurred in the 12600 block of Wisteria Drive after a business door was broken overnight and property was stolen. The residential burglary was reported in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive, where an apartment was entered and property was taken.

The 6th District (Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village) reported an attempted home invasion and two vehicle thefts. In the 9700 block of Key West Avenue, a man allegedly tried to kick in the doors of two apartments while threatening the occupants and displaying a knife. Police also reported two vehicles stolen from parking lots on Montgomery Village Avenue and Willow Creek Drive.
