Per the Montgomery County Department of Police, below is an overview of incidents included in the department’s daily crime summary for July 22, 2026. This summary does not reflect every call for service.
In the 1st District, which includes Rockville, Potomac, and parts of North Bethesda, officers responded to an aggravated assault involving a knife at 7:35pm in the 400 block of Congressional Lane. According to police, a woman was attacked by a man armed with a knife. She escaped with injuries that were not life threatening.
In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, Burtonsville, and Colesville, police reported a residential burglary at 1am in the 2000 block of Treetop Lane after someone entered an apartment and stole property. A person checking on the apartment encountered the suspect inside and left. Police also reported a strong-arm robbery at 4:47pm in the 800 block of Ellsworth Drive, where a man pushed another man to the ground inside a restaurant and took property. Two auto thefts were also reported. One vehicle was stolen from the 15000 block of Pine Top Lane between Tuesday at 6:30pm and Wednesday at 8am, and another was stolen from the 4300 block of Leatherwood Terrace between Tuesday at 7am and Wednesday at 8am.
In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Glenmont, Olney, and parts of Silver Spring, a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 11200 block of Georgia Avenue. Between Tuesday at 11:45pm and Wednesday at 7:30pm, a vehicle window was broken and property was taken.
In the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, and Montgomery Village, two auto thefts were reported. One vehicle was stolen from the 11400 block of Applegarth Way between Tuesday at 1pm and Wednesday at 6am. Another was stolen from the 18500 block of Split Rock Lane between Wednesday at 1:30pm and Thursday at 1:45am.
In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, an auto theft was reported in the 9600 block of Horizon Run. The vehicle was stolen between Wednesday at 4pm and Thursday at 2am.
