The Washington Commanders announced several roster moves ahead of training camp, placing CB Trey Amos, DE Dorance Armstrong, and DE Deatrich Wise Jr. on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, while CB Fred Davis II was placed on the Active/Non-Football Illness list.
Amos’ placement may come as a slight surprise, but it is likely a precaution as he continues his recovery from a fractured fibula suffered in Week 10 last season. The projected starting cornerback did not play again after the injury.
Armstrong is continuing to recover from the significant knee injury he suffered in Week 7 against the Cowboys. The injury ended his season after he had recorded a team-leading 5.5 sacks. Wise is also continuing his recovery after tearing his quadriceps in Week 2 against the Packers, an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
There was also positive news. Defensive tackle Tim Settle is not on the PUP list and appears ready for training camp. Settle suffered a severe foot injury in early December for the Texans that required season-ending surgery and landed him on injured reserve for the remainder of last season.
