A man is being held without bond after Montgomery County police say officers recovered an illegally possessed handgun with an extended magazine and suspected drugs during a traffic stop on Georgia Avenue in the Glenmont area.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers assigned to the 4th District Community Action Team were patrolling the 12300 block of Georgia Avenue as part of the district’s Summer Crime Initiative when they conducted the traffic stop.
Police said the adult male was found to be in illegal possession of a handgun equipped with an extended magazine. He was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, along with multiple firearm-related offenses.
The suspect, who was not named, was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond. MCPD shared details of the arrest on social media as part of its ongoing Summer Crime Initiative, which focuses on proactive enforcement in areas experiencing increased criminal activity.
