Weapons Arrest, Robbery, Multiple Auto Thefts Included In Aug. 5th Crime Summary

The Montgomery County Department of Police has released its overview of reported calls for service from Wednesday, Aug. 5.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, officers investigated the theft of an employee’s vehicle from a business in the 1300 block of E. Gude Dr. They also received a report of a stolen motorcycle from the 300 block of Elmcroft Blvd.

In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase and surrounding areas, police responded to a vandalism incident in the 5900 block of Connecticut Ave., where unknown suspect(s) damaged property near the location.

In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring, officers investigated the theft of a vehicle from a school parking lot in the 1500 block of St. Camillus Dr. Police also arrested a suspect following a strong-arm robbery in the 900 block of Thayer Ave. after the suspect allegedly assaulted a victim while stealing property.

In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Glenmont and Olney, officers investigated two separate auto thefts in the 3100 block of Bel Pre Rd. and the 4900 block of Arctic Ter. During a traffic stop in the 12400 block of Georgia Ave., officers recovered two firearms and arrested both suspects on weapons possession charges.

In the 5th District, which covers Germantown and Clarksburg, police investigated a theft from a vehicle in the 18800 block of Bent Willow Cir., where property including a firearm was stolen after a vehicle was forcibly entered. Officers also responded to a residential burglary in the 12200 block of Elm Forest Ct., where the victim found the front door open with broken glass nearby. Later that evening, a group of juveniles was taken into custody after allegedly kicking the front door of a home in the 25900 block of La Salle Ct.

In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, officers investigated an auto theft from a residence in the 8300 block of Broderick Cir. Police also received a report that a handgun and two magazines were stolen from a vehicle in the 9200 block of Frostburg Way that may have been left unlocked overnight. Additionally, officers arrested a man after finding him asleep inside a business in the 600 block of N. Frederick Ave. Police said nothing was taken.
