Washington Commanders star left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps during practice on Saturday and is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2026 regular season.
NFL Network reporters Mike Garafolo and Steve Wyche reported that Tunsil suffered the injury during 1-on-1 pass-rush drills. Tunsil will likely require surgery, according to their report.
Tunsil was injured during a rep against Commanders edge rusher Odafe Oweh. He left the field with trainers and was evaluated in the medical tent before heading into the team’s training facility.
The loss will be a significant blow to Washington’s offensive line. Tunsil, 32, is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and has served as the Commanders’ starting left tackle since being acquired from the Houston Texans in 2025. He started 14 games for Washington last season.
Earlier this offseason, Washington signed Tunsil to a two-year, $60.2 million contract extension, making him the first offensive lineman in NFL history to reach an average annual salary of more than $30 million. A timetable for Tunsil’s return has not yet been announced.
