Dunkin’/Baskin Robbins Replaces Starbucks

Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins is now open at 898 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg, taking over the space that was previously home to Starbucks in the Muddy Branch Square shopping center (first look photos below).

The combined location officially opened Monday, August 10, and features Dunkin’s lineup of coffee, breakfast items, baked goods and donuts alongside a full Baskin-Robbins ice cream counter. The store also includes Baskin-Robbins’ “The Cakery,” offering ice cream cakes and other take-home desserts.

The former Starbucks closed in September 2025 as part of a nationwide restructuring effort that resulted in the closure of five Montgomery County locations.

Inside the new store, a “Gaithersburg Runs on Dunkin’” display highlights the brand’s return to the space, while the Baskin-Robbins portion includes its traditional 31-flavor ice cream selection. A grand opening celebration is planned for September, with additional details expected to be announced at a later date.
