The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared its daily crime summary for August 11, highlighting reported incidents including aggravated assaults, auto thefts and multiple catalytic converter thefts across the county.
MCPD’s 1st District, which covers Rockville, Potomac and portions of North Bethesda, reported two incidents. Catalytic converters were stolen from two vehicles in the 1700 block of Twinbrook Parkway sometime between 2am Monday and 12:30pm Tuesday. At approximately 6:27pm Tuesday, police responded to the 400 block of N. Horners Lane for an aggravated assault involving a firearm. According to police, a suspect pointed a handgun at people inside a vehicle, and one person was arrested.
The 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington and portions of North Bethesda, reported a theft from a vehicle and an aggravated assault. All four tires were stolen from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Washington Avenue sometime between 9pm Monday and 7:30am Tuesday. At approximately 12:06pm Tuesday, two people were involved in a fight outside their businesses in the 4900 block of Auburn Avenue.
MCPD’s 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring, Wheaton and Burtonsville, reported two thefts from vehicles. A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Belvedere Boulevard at approximately 1:23pm Tuesday. An airbag was also stolen from a vehicle in the 3500 block of Sheffield Manor Terrace, with the theft reported at approximately 5:52am Wednesday.
The 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Glenmont, Aspen Hill, Olney and Brookeville, reported three auto thefts, three catalytic converter thefts and an aggravated assault. Vehicles were reported stolen from the 3900 block of Isbell Street, the 12700 block of Layhill Road and the 2200 block of Glenallan Avenue. Catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles in the 12800 block of Littleton Street, 3300 block of May Street and 1400 block of Arbor View Road. At approximately 6:27pm, a man was found injured inside a store in the 13600 block of Georgia Avenue in an incident classified as an aggravated assault.
The 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus and surrounding areas, reported an auto theft in the 23500 block of Clarksburg Road. According to police, a vehicle was stolen from an alley sometime between 12pm Friday and 9pm Tuesday.
The 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, reported an auto theft from a parking lot in the 9800 block of Washingtonian Boulevard. Police said the vehicle was stolen sometime between 6pm and 10pm Tuesday.
