Armed Assaults, Burglaries and Vehicle Thefts Included in Weekend Crime Summary

Montgomery County Police shared an overview of reported calls for service from Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16. The incidents included armed assaults, burglaries, auto thefts, a robbery and a weapons arrest.

In the 1st District, which includes Rockville and parts of Potomac, police reported two auto thefts and an aggravated assault involving a firearm. Vehicles were stolen from a parking lot in the 12000 block of Rockville Pike and a driveway in the 300 block of W. Edmonston Dr. On Sunday afternoon, a driver reportedly pointed a handgun at another driver following a road rage incident near Veirs Mill Rd and Atlantic Ave.

In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac and surrounding areas, an apartment in the 10500 block of Rockville Pike was entered Sunday afternoon and property was taken. One person was arrested a short time later.

In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, White Oak and surrounding areas, police reported three residential burglaries, three auto thefts, an aggravated assault and an arson. A home in the 19000 block of Grayson Ave was entered and property was taken, while vehicles were stolen from the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike and the 900 block of Wayne Ave. The vehicle stolen from Wayne Ave was later recovered, and one person was arrested. A motorcycle was also stolen near Georgia Ave and Bonifant St.

Police said a suspect assaulted a man and pointed a gun at him Saturday afternoon in the 15600 block of Riding Stable Rd. Later that night, a suspect allegedly entered an apartment in the 1200 block of Blair Mill Rd and set a fire inside. One person was arrested. On Sunday, a suspect reportedly entered a home in the 1600 block of Noyes Dr and took property. One person was arrested.

In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Glenmont and surrounding areas, a vehicle was stolen from a driveway in the 5000 block of Adrian St. Police also reported that suspects displayed a handgun and took property from a man at a bus stop in the 2300 block of Blueridge Ave.

In the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg and surrounding areas, police arrested a man after allegedly finding a handgun on him during a traffic stop in the 19800 block of Larentia Dr. Police also reported that a vehicle door was damaged and property was taken in the 13700 block of Little Seneca Pkwy.

In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, vehicles were stolen from a driveway in the 400 block of 4th Ave. Police also reported that someone entered a garage in the 200 block of Community Center Ave and took property. In a separate incident, a suspect reportedly pulled a knife on a man during a dispute in the 300 block of N. Frederick Ave before leaving the scene.

MCPD noted that the summary does not reflect every call for service during the three-day period.
